Assignment One


 
Please do each item in sequence
I need the following information from each student:
  1. Your First, and Last Names
  2. Last six digits of your school ID number
  3. Your E-mail address where I can reach you.
  4. You need to put all of this information into this Student Form.
  5. If you need to change anything click here.
  6. Print out these instructions so you can follow the steps below.
    1. Click on this link studentindex.html.
    2. You need to follow these instructions.
    3. Right click the mouse on the studentindex.html page and select view source.
    4. This will load the source file into windows notepad.
    5. From notepad make the necessary corrections to the file.
    6. In 3 places put your name in place of Student name and update the displayed date near the end of the file
    7. Then from notepad click File/Save As; in the box Save In select 3.5 Floppy(A:); in the File name box type the file name as index.html; then click on Save
    8. This will be the basis of your index page which you will upload to your ccsn web site.
  7. To open the FTP program which we will use to upload your files to your WEB site click Start/Programs/Internet Tools/WS_FTP95LE on the school's computers
    1. If you are working from home Download the file WS_FTP LE and install the program on your home computer.
    2. We use this program to connect to the CCSN site and upload or download files.
    3. Once WS_FTP95LE program open, click on Connect
      1. Click on new profile and name it CCSN
      2. The Host Name/Address is : citweb.ccsn.net
      3. The Host Type is : Auto detect
      4. Your User ID is :'your username from section (2) above'.
      5. Your Password is :'your password from section (2) above'. You did write both of them down didn't you?
      6. Make sure Anonymous is not checked.
      7. Make sure you click Apply.
      8. Now click OK and you should be connected to your CCSN site
    4. Select your saved index.html file on the Floppy disk to upload. (You upload by clicking on the right pointing arrow.)
  8. Now go to the Class home page and check the roster for your name and click on your site
  9. If you have any problems go over the steps again.
